Ferrari has taken a considerable hit in its pursuit of a first F1 constructors' championship since 2008 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc has been handed a 10-place grid penalty after the Scuderia had to change the energy store (ES) in the back of his Ferrari.
Having already used his allocated two for the season, the 27-year-old had to draw upon a third component after his SF-24 was struck with issues at the start of FP1.
Nevertheless, the Monegasque driver topped the opening practice session of the weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit when his Ferrari did emerge from the pits.
Along with brother Arthur, he made history during the hour, becoming the first brothers to drive for the same constructor in an F1 session.

F1 is becoming heavily over regulated. Punishment is being handed out for minor infringements. Either the rule book should be re-written, or the stewards should be told to use more common sense before applying so many penalties.
