That Fernando Alonso is an avid collector of expensive sports cars is well known.
Earlier this year, the two-time F1 champion was spotted driving around the streets of Monaco in an Aston Martin Valkyrie, a multi-million dollar car developed by Adrian Newey that closely resembles Formula 1 machinery.
In addition, Alonso has several other extremely expensive and impressive vehicles in his collection, such as the Aston Martin Valiant and the Ferrari F40.
To these he has now added perhaps his most impressive purchase: the Pagani Zonda Roadster 'Diamante Verde'. This car is among the most striking creations of Horacio Pagani, founder of the Italian sports car brand.
What makes the car extra special is that it is the only one of its kind, reportedly worth close to $10 million. It features a Mercedes-AMG 7.3-litre V12 engine, delivering 760 horsepower, and there is an additional unique feature.
Given that Alonso recently became a father, the car is equipped with a child seat in the colours of the Spanish driver's helmet, especially for little Leonardo.
On its Instagram account, car supplier Mechatronik wrote: "A few weeks ago, we were back in Monaco for yet another special delivery, this time delivering the outstanding Pagani Zonda Diamante Verde. We are very proud that it has found its new home with none other than motorsport legend @fernandoalo_oficial.
"This is pure automotive royalty, and our congratulations go to Fernando for adding another unicorn to his garage, even though that means this benchmark will be hard to beat."
