Fernando Alonso has confirmed that Aston Martin's "focus" is now on next season, rather than the current campaign.
The big challenge for all teams this year is timing when to switch focus to 2026 and the introduction of the new power unit regulations.
For the Silverstone-based outfit, next year will mark the start of its relationship with Honda as a works team, whilst also being the first car to be influenced by Adrian Newey since his arrival.
Aston Martin has a significant amount hanging on its car for the new regulations being strong, to make the signing of Newey and the belief of Alonso worthwhile.
Alonso recently scored his first points of the campaign in the Spanish Grand Prix, having gone eight races point-less in what is turning out to be a tricky year.
Whilst the British team is continuing to introduce some new parts to the AMR25, Alonso has explained that it is part of increasing the outfit's confidence for next season.
"I think the focus is on 2026," Alonso told media, including RacingNews365, ahead of the Spanish GP. "But in order to be confident and strong in '26, you have to build the momentum also in '25, and you have to deliver some parts on track that are making the car faster as well in '25.
"And that will, I think, give some confidence to the team as well, back in Silverstone and also in our tools to make sure that everything that we are developing in '26, it makes sense, because we go on track and it delivers the expectations.
"So, yeah, I think there is a little bit of work still on '25, but the main focus or the hopes are in '26. We understand the situation.
"We understand where we are in 2025, and whatever we bring to the track will just be a minimum change in terms of positions and finishing order. I think the biggest step in that regard can only happen in '26, where all the hopes are."
