New FIA Formula 2 champion Theo Pourchaire has signed with Team Impul for the 2024 Japanese Super Formula season.
Pourchaire tested SF machinery last week at Suzuka for the Impul squad in its Toyota-powered car, and is so far the only-foreign driver signed up for next season, taking in circuits such as Suzuka, Autopolis and Fuji.
Despite claiming the F2 title, a promotion to F1 was not possible for the Frenchman, with Zhou Guanyu being kept on by Sauber, closing the door to Pourchaire until at least 2025 - by which the time the Hinwil-team will be in full preparation mode for Audi's 2026 arrival.
He was signed to the Sauber academy in 2019, stepping up to FIA F3 as the ADAC champion, and finishing as runner-up before promotion to F2 in '21.
At his third attempt, Pourchaire took the title, previously being defeated by Oscar Piastri and Felipe Drugovich.
