F1 teams to nominate F1 Academy drivers from 2024

The all-female championship will be in its second season, and is set for more F1 backing.

All 10 Formula 1 teams will nominate one driver and have their livery on one car in the 2024 F1 Academy season, it has been announced. The all-female championship was set up for 2023, with five junior racing squads running three cars apiece with races at circuits such as the Red Bull Ring and Monza, and will be on the support package for October's United States Grand Prix in Austin. From next season, all 10 Grand Prix squads will select one driver to race in the series, with the five remaining seats made up by drivers supported by other partners, with liveries also set to feature on the F1-affiliated drivers. "This landmark moment not only demonstrates the depth of support for F1 Academy from across the F1 community but will inspire a whole generation of young girls to realise the opportunities both on and off track in motorsport," F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff said. "As we join the F1 calendar for next year and host F1 Academy Discover Your Drive events in the lead-up to our races, I am confident that we will have a positive impact across our sport in the long term." F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali added that "today is a very important moment as it shows the impact the project is having and the support it is receiving from across the F1 community," while hailing the tireless work of Wolff. After five rounds - and 15 races - of the championship, Prema Racing's Spanish driver Marta Garcia tops the standings, heading into a standalone event at Paul Ricard this weekend.
