Former MotoGP rider turned commentator and pundit Neil Hodgson has tipped more stars to come across from Formula 1, following what Guenther Steiner has done.
F1 owner Liberty Media's acquisition of an 84% stake in MotoGP has led to expectations that the series will grow in a similar fashion to the pinnacle of four-wheeled motorsport, making it an exciting proposition.
Money in F1 has increased dramatically since Liberty Media's takeover, with the boom in the United States having played a leading role in that growth.
It could see famous faces from F1 move to MotoGP, like former Haas boss Steiner, in anticipation of further financial growth.
Steiner is the CEO and owner of MotoGP outfit Tech3, having acquired full ownership from Hervé Poncharal through an investment consortium financed by IKON Capital.
While the team was acquired in September last year, Steiner took up his position at the start of 2026. Ex-Red Bull boss Christian Horner is another big name from F1 to have made a recent appearance in MotoGP, with Hodgson expecting more to take a look at the championship.
Asked if he expects more big names to come across to MotoGP, Hodgson told RacingNews365 during an interview: "I do, I do, and you can't blame them, and it makes sense. And it's funny that it's completely split, right?
"You've got half of the old-school biker fans going, 'Oh, I don't like all that. Don't change it. They're going to spoil our sport.' I'm old-school, but I don't believe that. I'm like, let's get these interesting characters in.
"Let's invest more money in. Let's build bigger teams, better teams, give more opportunities for people, generally growing our sport. So I'm all for it, but I do think it's going to happen, and we're going to see it.
"It's been maybe slower than people expected over the last sort of 18 months. I think people expected maybe a fraction more from Liberty Media. I think they're in this period of standing back, watching what Dorna (the previous majority owners) are doing, and then they'll make the tweaks."
