F1 rookie Rafael Camara has escaped with a reprimand despite ignoring "multiple" radio warnings that led to a "clearly dangerous" incident involving Charles Leclerc.
Midway through FP2 at Interlagos, Camara, handed his F1 debut this weekend with Haas, was dawdling on the racing line, climbing the hill in the final sector as Leclerc's Ferrari came through on a flying lap.
Leclerc was squeezed towards the outside wall at high speed, but escaped without damage - although he did make his displeasure at Camara known, with the incident reported to the stewards for an investigation.
After speaking with Camara, team representatives, and reviewing video, team radio and in-car video evidence, the stewards found that "car 51 was warned multiple times that car 16 was arriving on a fast lap.
"Yet, car 51 was weaving and moving well into the racing line. Car 16 had to take evasive action to avoid a collision by moving to the right, with a significant amount of the car off the track.
"The situation that was created was clearly dangerous and car 51 should have taken more care to avoid impeding car 16.
"While the typical penalty for impeding in a Free Practice session is a warning, in this instance, we are of the view that a reprimand is warranted."
