F1 fans torn on Red Bull driver dilemma

Who will partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull next season is anything but certain, and F1 fans are divided on whether a seldom-considered candidate has done enough to be in the running for the seat.

Despite Red Bull's driver line-up for the 2025 F1 season confirmed, Sergio Perez's future is anything but secure.

The 34-year-old has a contract, but the Milton Keynes squad made it clear over the summer that, given his torrid run of form, he was only guaranteed his seat until the end of this year.

That has led to a groundswell of speculation over who might replace him as team-mate to Max Verstappen if Red Bull decides to pull the trigger.

It will not be Daniel Ricciardo, who has been sidelined at RB for Liam Lawson. The New Zealander is widely considered to be about to embark on a six-grand prix audition for the Red Bull drive, with a 2025 seat at the Faenza-based team the minimum for him next term.

However, what was thought to be a choice between two drivers may be between three, as Helmut Marko has recently left the door slightly ajar for Yuki Tsunoda.

The 24-year-old has long been overlooked for a promotion, much to the bewilderment of the paddock and F1 fans alike, but could he be on the cusp of getting his opportunity?

That question aside, in a recent poll conducted by RacingNews365, respondents were almost completely divided on whether the Japanese driver deserved a call-up if it were to come to fruition.

In fact, with 2,277 ballots cast, only eight votes split the two main options, highlighting just how polarising Tsunoda is, and where he should drive.
