A surprise outcome has been reached on who will partner Pierre Gasly at Alpine for the 2025 F1 season.

It is a transitional period for the French team, with OIiver Oakes set to take over at Enstone once the summer break concludes, and one of his first orders of business will likely be to decide upon a second driver for next year.

According to reports, that driver is set to be current Alpine reserve Jack Doohan. However, F1 fans have other ideas.

A number of names have been linked to the seat, including the Stake duo of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.

There also remains the possibility that with Oakes' ties to Red Bull, as a former junior driver and long-time promoter of Red Bull talents through Hitech GP in F2 and FIA F3, Liam Lawson or Isack Hadjar could be placed alongside Gasly.

However, in a recent RacingNews365 poll, almost 80 per cent of the 1,910 respondents selected Zhou as the driver they think will line up for Alpine next year.

The Chinese driver is known to come with big money backing and, as a former Alpine junior, is well-known within the team.
