When it comes to the drivers on the 2023 F1 grid and their ages, there is certainly a wide gap in terms of who is the youngest and who is the oldest.
The age of the drivers varies greatly, with the youngest driver being born in 2001, while the oldest was born back in 1981.
Who is the oldest F1 driver on the grid?
The oldest driver on the F1 grid is Fernando Alonso, with the
Spaniard starting the season aged 41. His birthday falls on 29 July,
meaning he will be 42 by the time the 2023 Formula 1 season finishes.
Alonso returned to the grid with Alpine in 2021 after being away from F1 for two years. He made his debut in the sport back in 2001 while driving for Minardi.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is the second-oldest driver on the grid, as the seven-time World Champion turned 38 on 7 January.
The third-oldest F1 driver in 2023 is Nico Hulkenberg. The Haas driver is making his comeback to the sport aged 35, and will be 36 when he celebrates his birthday on 19 August.
Who is the youngest F1 driver on the grid?
The youngest driver on the F1 grid is Oscar Piastri. The McLaren youngster is one of only three current F1 drivers born in the 2000s, having been born on 6 April 2001, so he is currently 21 years old, and will have turned 22 by the end of the 2023 season.
Just behind him is fellow rookie Logan Sargeant, with the Williams driver's birthday falling on 31 December 2000. He is 22 years old.
The third-youngest F1 driver is rookie Yuki Tsunoda. Tsunoda was born on 11 May 2000, meaning that he is currently aged 22, but will turn 23 during the 2023 F1 season.
