Max Verstappen took his sixth race win of 2023 and Red Bull's 100th in Formula 1 in the Canadian Grand Prix.
It was a lights-to-flag victory for the Dutchman while Alonso had to overtake Hamilton on track after a poor start.
Elsewhere the two Ferrari's made their way into the top five positions, which was helped slightly when George Russell clipped the wall early on and had to pit with damage.
Despite a recovery drive his Mercedes engineer told him to retire the car due to significant damage to the brakes.
Alex Albon took home a solid P7 and the most points for Williams since Russell's second place at the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix.
His teammate Logan Sargeant was the only other retiree after having to stop early on with a problem.
