Charles Leclerc stormed to pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix as Ferrari and Red Bull continued their head-to-head battle.
Leclerc trailed after the first Q3 runs, having spun, but the tables were turned on the decisive laps when Verstappen reported a loss of power.
Leclerc's best time of 1:18.750 put him three-tenths clear of Verstappen, with Carlos Sainz claiming third in the other Ferrari.
A much-improved Mercedes package enabled George Russell and Lewis Hamilton to take fourth and sixth respectively, sandwiching Sergio Perez's Red Bull.
