Dennis left bewildered and demands Andretti sort 's***' out

Jake Dennis has finished on the podium in the last three races and is joint-leader in the drivers' championship, alongside Pascal Wehrlein.

Despite claiming a third consecutive podium, Jake Dennis was left frustrated after the second race of the Misano E-Prix and revealed his pace disadvantage to Pascal Wehrlein has come as the "biggest surprise".

Whilst Dennis and Wehrlein are in different teams the two drivers have the same Porsche powertrain, yet the reigning world champion cannot match the German driver as things stand.

The Andretti star is currently unable to match Wehrlein's race pace and one-lap pace, whilst he rated the American team's efficiency as "not great" even compared to typical backmarker Abt Cupra.

After finishing second though, he does now sit joint-top of the drivers' championship with Wehrlein, although he does question if "luck" is just on his side currently.

"Did it surprise me? No, not really," Dennis told RacingNews365. "But it surprised me how slow I was in comparison to Pascal and that's the biggest surprise from that race to be honest.

"Just no performance. Not great efficiency compared to an Abt car. So to analyse that, why that was the case? How we finished second? I don't really know. I don't know if it was luck or what. Yeah, we came home P2 in a race where I felt really bad in the car."

Current struggles

On his way to the title last year, Dennis was the most consistent driver both in qualifying and in the races, although changes to the car has seen him become less comfortable.

It has been the opposite Dennis believes for Wehrlein, with the Briton thinking that he is "exploiting" the recent changes.

Ultimately, Dennis recognises that he still needs more performance over one-lap and in the races and has called for Andretti to get on top of the situation.

"Pascal is obviously driving really well, there's no denying that he's in a really good window with the car," said Dennis.

"There's been a lot of changes, which has moved away from my style. And obviously, it's gone more towards his style. He's just exploiting that and just makes me struggle a little bit more.

"But ultimately, you can't take anything away from him. And he's delivering on all occasions in qualifying at least. But yeah, I mean, we're still right there with joint points on him. We just need to sort s*** out."
