Daytona 24 Hours resumes after six-and-a-half hour delay as Porsche lead

The Daytona 24 Hours has resumed green-flag running following a six-and-a-half hour delay due to fog in Florida.

At 00:47 Eastern Time, the race was placed under the full course yellow due to fog and low visibility, with this continuing for 120 laps until the caution was lifted at 07:19 EST. 

That was an official delay of 6hrs:33mins:25s, the longest ever yellow period in the history of the Daytona 24 Hours, in this, the 64th running.

Despite the delay, the Porsche Penske Motorsport cars are leading one-two, with the #7 machine, currently driven by Laurin Heinrich leading by a shade under two seconds from the sister #6 car, with Matt Campbell at the wheel.

Whilst leading in the first few hours, the #6 sustained floor damage following contact with an LMP2 car, but lucky breaks with FCY periods meant it did not lose laps. 

Running third in GTP is currently the #25 BMW of former F1 driver, Kevin Magnussen. 

LMP2 is being led by the #8 Tower Motorsports ORECA, with Sebastien Bourdais at the wheel, with the #4 Pratt Miller Motorsports Corvette with Tommy Milner leading GTD Pro. 

The GTD Class is being led by the #96 BMW Turner Motorsport entry, with Robby Foley at the wheel.
