Christian Horner has jokingly described Adrian Newey as "looking like a giant bogey" on his first appearance for Aston Martin.
New managing technical partner Newey is trackside for Aston Martin for the first time in Monaco having departed his role as chief technical officer at Red Bull in 2024.
The legendary designer is working on Aston's 2026 package with minimal influence on the 2025 car, as his former Red Bull boss Horner aimed a jibe in Newey's direction.
"I haven't seen him in green yet, but he looks like a giant bogey," Horner joked when shown footage of Newey in Aston Martin kit by Sky Sports F1.
"It is odd seeing him in green, but it is great to see him, he is a racer.
"I don't think he's ever missed a race at this track, even going back to his gardening leave at McLaren, so we'll catch up with him later, but it is good to see him."
Since Newey's departure, Red Bull has struggled to develop its RB20 and now RB21 machines, with some of the problems of the 2024 car carrying over to this year.
Horner felt that there was "no silver bullet" in upgrades, but that it was rather a gradual process.
"I think it is like anything, there are no silver bullets," he added.
"It is a combination of factors, we brought some parts which worked [to Imola], and then the knock-on effects of that are that you slide less and generate less tyre temperature.
"Everything becomes more manageable, and I think the team did a super job to bring some components which worked well, and then set the car up to get the most out of it."
