Christian Horner handed surprising vote of confidence following Red Bull axe

Well, here's a turn up for the book as Christian Horner has been given the support of the F1 fans.

Christian Horner at least has the support of the F1 fans on his side following his departure from Red Bull.

Horner's stunning exit as team principal and CEO after 20 years at the helm since its foundation in 2005 sent shockwaves through F1.

No official reason has been cited for his leaving, other than parent company Red Bull GmbH stating the 51-year-old had been relieved of his duties.

Numerous factors are understood to have been in play, stemming back to the investigations of last year following allegations of inappropriate behaviour made against him by a female Red Bull employee. He was cleared both internally and externally.

Numerous senior figures have since left, including Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley from their roles as chief technical officer and sporting director, respectively.

Over time, from a period of total domination in 2023, Red Bull's performance on track has declined, with Max Verstappen a saving grace, although his time as champion appears to be coming to an end this year.

Regardless of the circumstances, we conducted a poll that registered almost 14,000 votes by the time it was closed, asking whether it was right that Red Bull and Horner parted ways.

There was a clear winner, with just over 48% of those who voted declaring Horner to still be the right man for the job.

In contrast, 38.60% voted that the time had come for change, whilst 14.22% were unsure.

Whether or not Red Bull has made the right decision or not, only time will tell. As to what Horner's next move in F1 might be, well, you can take part in that poll below.
