Charles Leclerc suffered a huge accident in qualifying for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, triggering a red flag in Q3.
Rounding Turn 4, Leclerc had a snap of oversteer, and once the car corrected itself, it spat the Monegasque off into the gravel and head-first into the tyre barrier.
He was able to climb out of the car unaided after the impact, although the medical car was deployed as the impact registered over the required automatic threshold.
With 8:30 on the clock in Q3, only Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen were able to set a lap-time, with Piastri on pole with a 1:15.176.
Verstappen was 0.152s slower, with Lando Norris forced to abort his lap before finishing it.
Owing to the high levels of tyre wear being experienced, it means drivers left in the session will only have a single lap to set a time to determine their grid position.
