Charles Leclerc offers major hint into post-F1 career

Charles Leclerc has indicated he would be keen to step into driver management once his F1 driving career comes to an end.

Leclerc recently announced an extension to his deal with Ferrari, which is set to keep him at the Italian squad for the next several years.

The Monegasque has a long history with Ferrari, joining its junior programme in 2016 before being signed to a full-time F1 drive with the outfit in 2019.

At 28 years of age, Leclerc likely still has many years left on the F1 grid as a driver, as he targets a world championship with Ferrari.

But in a recent conversation with the Beyond The Grid podcast, the topic of driver management arose.

When asked if it is something he will do in the future, Leclerc said: “One day, 100 per cent.

“I spoke about it with my manager, Nicolas [Todt], who does this himself, whether it would be interesting to do that together once I'm done.

“I don't see it right now. At the moment, I'm 200 per cent focused on racing, on my driving and trying to make Ferrari win.

“When I turn the page, I most likely will stay around to do just that.”

Leclerc has little interest in driver management

However, while he remains a driver on the grid, Leclerc insisted he has no interest in getting involved in the political landscape of the sport.

“It doesn't really interest me,” he said. “I try to be just myself and as genuine as I can be. 

“If that hurts me in any kind of relationship, I won't force things. This is the way I've always been, I've always hated to be the guy that needs to be nice for whatever reason. 

“This is not me, and I will never change. I don't feel I have any enemies in the paddock, so it hasn't hurt me.”
