Charles Leclerc and George Russell have learned their fate from the stewards at the Miami Grand Prix, following a post-race investigation into their collision at Turn 17 on the final lap.

The former had spent the closing stages battling Oscar Piastri for the last spot on the podium, but his spin on the final lap saw him make contact with the wall and damage his Ferrari.

The latter, meanwhile, had been fighting Max Verstappen for fifth, but with Leclerc dropping back, they unexpectedly found themselves in the hunt for fourth.

Heading into the last proper corner at the Miami International Autodrome, the Monegasque driver and Russell made contact, with the stewards wanting to take a closer look.

In their verdict, the stewards explained that "both drivers considered the contact to be a minor racing incident, and we agreed."

Leclerc, however, was handed a 20-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage following his spin and the damage sustained in the impact with the wall.

This unrelated incident to Russell dropped the Ferrari from sixth to eighth, promoting Lewis Hamilton and Franco Colapinto up to sixth and seventh, the latter being Colapinto's career-best finish.
