Charles Leclerc carrying 'little lessons' ahead of Ferrari breakthrough target

Charles Leclerc has stated he will carry “little lessons” into the 2026 F1 campaign as he aims for a breakthrough season with Ferrari.

The Monegasque driver is entering his eighth season as a Ferrari driver, amassing eight grand prix wins during his time with the team.

However, Leclerc has never been provided a car to challenge for a world championship, with his best finish being the runner-up spot in 2022.

With 171 race starts to his name, Leclerc stated his lessons from season-to-season have decreased during his career. 

“As a driver, obviously the first few years in F1, it was very clear what I had to work on because the weaknesses when you arrive in Formula 1 are much bigger,” Leclerc told media including RacingNews365.

“So it's very easy to target only one thing you want to improve, and that was race management and tyre management in my first few years. 

“Then you improve those things, and then it's all about the details.”

Ferrari is hoping to commence the sport's new era under fresh technical regulations in strong fashion this year and end its title drought, which currently stretches back to 2008.

As Leclerc seeks to get a shot at a maiden F1 title in 2026, the 28-year-old pledged to apply all his experience to set himself up to battle his rivals.

“The experience you get in Formula 1 helps you to fine-tune the little things you want to get better at,” he said.

“So there's not one main lesson I will take from this year to next year – just many more little lessons that you keep in mind and try to fine-tune and get better at.”
