Ben Sulayem elected as the new FIA President

Mohammed Ben Sulayem will succeed Jean Todt as the new FIA President.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been elected as the next FIA President, and will succeed Jean Todt after the Frenchman's 12 years in charge of the governing body. Ben Sulayem, a former rally driver, recorded a 62% vote of the FIA General Assembly, which comprises automobile clubs and national sporting authorities that make up the member organisations of the governing body. This portion of the vote beat out Graham Stoker, who was part of Todt's administration as FIA Deputy President since 2009. Ben Sulayem becomes the first non-European President of the FIA. The 'FIA for Members' Twitter account, representing Ben Sulayem's campaign, posted to say: "The votes are in and we've won! "We are thrilled that 62% of all clubs have given us their vote. We are truly humbled. "The support from you will help us build a stronger federation."
