Aston Martin to fly in Lance Stroll repairs after costly suspension failure

Aston Martin is to fly in fresh spare parts overnight to fully fix Lance Stroll's car after his suspension failure in Hungarian GP practice.

Stroll was limited to just 11 laps in the heavily upgraded AMR26 after his left-rear suspension failed at Turn 3, with the team unable to fix the car to get him out for FP2.

In the hands of Fernando Alonso, the car recorded 13th in FP1 and then was 19th in FP2, although Alonso's best lap was deleted for track limits.

Alonso was encouraged by the upgrades, as de la Rosa confirmed that the problem which affected Stroll was not a factor on Alonso's car, with spare parts being flown from the UK to ensure both drivers have the same car for Saturday's FP3 and qualifying sessions. 

"It was a suspension failure [for Stroll], that's the reason why [Alonso] went out, and he continued in the second session, so we were safe on that," de la Rosa explained. 

"However, it meant that because of the lack of spares, we couldn't repair the car on time with Lance. He will be out tomorrow [Saturday], but we couldn't do it for the second session, unfortunately.

"We've lost a lot of track time with that, but also Lance has lost a lot of track time, because it's just a new feeling, a different characteristic to drive this car, so drivers also need to adapt. It's not only about adapting the set-up, but also the drivers to this car.

"It's just that some parts need to be repaired, and some others will come."
