Aston Martin chief trackside officer Mike Krack has admitted he would be keen to see Fernando Alonso compete in other motorsport categories alongside his F1 duties.
Alonso put speculation over his F1 future to bed last week when he declared he had extended his commitment to Aston Martin.
However, the two-time champion teased that there were "more surprises" on the way before speculation increased that he could enter the Dakar Rally, having already done so in 2020.
The situation was put to Krack ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, who insisted he is unopposed to Alonso taking on such challenges.
"We had Robert [Kubica] doing rally, we had Kimi [Raikkonen] doing rally, we had Max [Verstappen] doing GT3, we had Lance [Stroll] doing GT3," Krack told media including RacingNews365.
"I personally like that. It is good for motorsport in general if the drivers do that.
"What happens, I cannot really say in Fernando's case for next year.
"But generally, it is a very good thing, and it also shows what racing approach or what racers they are.
"With the calendar we have, they want to do other things. For Max, it was seven weekends in a row with all the GT3 stuff.
"It shows what racers they are, and it will glue me to the TV as well, like all of us."
Krack addresses Le Mans possibility for Alonso
Next year, there will be no clash between the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a grand prix, opening the door for F1 drivers to take part in the iconic race.
Alonso, who is a two-time winner of the race, has long been linked with a future entry to the race in a partnership with fellow F1 champion Verstappen.
However, the Spaniard has already stated he does not expect such a collaboration to occur in 2027.
When asked if Aston Martin would allow its drivers to race at Le Mans, Krack added: "I'm not making this final approval, 'yes or no, you are allowed to'.
"So I can't really confirm. I'm just saying personally, this is a good thing because race drivers should race."
