Aston Martin CEO leaves as Ferrari duo announced as replacement

The Aston Martin car company will undergo a change in its leadership team, in a move that has been welcomed by owner Lawrence Stroll.

The Aston Martin Lagonda group have announced the departure of their Chief Executive Officer, with two new staff from Ferrari set to replace him. A statement from the company confirms that current CEO Tobias Moers has decided to leave his position by "mutual agreement", and adds: "He will leave the board of the company with immediate effect and support the leadership team with a smooth transition until the end of July." Moers – who had been in the role from less than two years – will be replaced by Amedeo Felisa, a former CEO of Ferrari who will join the company as Executive Director with immediate effect. Felisa is currently a Non-Executive Director of the company, and had previously spent over 26 years in leadership roles at Ferrari. Alongside him, Roberto Fedeli has been appointed as Chief Technical Officer, and will take up his position from 1 June. Fedeli also spent 26 years with Ferrari, where he was known for creating some of the brand's most iconic cars, and most recently worked with BMW.

Stroll predicts "long-term benefits" from changes

The changes have been welcomed by Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll. In the statement, Stroll thanked Moers for his contribution to the company's progress, and spoke of his hopes for what the new leadership team can achieve. "There is a need for the business to enter a new phase of growth with a new leadership team and structure to ensure we deliver on our goals," Stroll said. "Our new organisational framework will support the company to its full potential, foster greater collaboration, a more cohesive way of working, both internally and externally, especially with our strategic partners, including Mercedes-Benz AG, and further accelerate technology transfer programmes with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula 1 Team." Stroll added: "We believe these changes will bring significant long-term benefits to everyone involved with Aston Martin. "We are poised to deliver good growth in 2022 and remain extremely confident in the medium and long-term prospects for the company as we transform Aston Martin into the world's most desirable ultra-luxury British performance brand."
