Antonio Felix da Costa fires 'breakfast, lunch and dinner' Pascal Wehrlein dig

Antonio Félix da Costa has revealed that he "had forgotten" how enjoyable it is having “breakfast, lunch and dinner” with his team-mate, following his relationship breakdown with Pascal Wehrlein.

Da Costa’s relationship with former Porsche team-mate Wehrlein collapsed a year ago in São Paulo, where Formula E is this weekend for its season-opener.

An incident on race day resulted in a disagreement between the duo, creating tension within the Porsche camp which later boiled over in Shanghai and Berlin.

Ultimately, da Costa left Porsche to join Jaguar, where he is partnered with long-term friend Mitch Evans, whom he has raced against since 2011 in GP3.

In completing the switch, da Costa has returned to spending time with his team-mate — something that came to an end last year with Wehrlein.

"I’m not gonna lie, being able to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner with your team-mate is a cool thing that I had forgotten about," da Costa told RacingNews365.

Da Costa later continued on his relationship with Evans: "It’s amazing. We’ve been racing each other since 2011 in GP3. We’ve been fighting for a lot of race wins, sometimes some of them on the last lap.

"And we’re always able to give a hug to each other at the end and go for dinner. And I’m sure it’s gonna stay that way."

Despite his Porsche exit, da Costa remains on good terms with much of the German squad — except Wehrlein.

The Portuguese driver was seen greeting Porsche personnel in the Weissach-based outfit’s garage in São Paulo, with him aware that Formula E’s DRIVER docu-series made his exit look particularly bad.

He insists that is not the case, but that he has found exactly what he wanted in Jaguar.

"We’ve only just started, but at the moment the environment is exactly what I was looking for," added da Costa.

"I know with the DRIVER documentary and everything, it feels like everything at Porsche was bad. Not everything was bad.

"I’ve had a lot of great days and great successes there. Some people I got on with better than others. But to be honest, I left on really good terms with everybody apart from Pascal.

"As I said, that door is now closed, and I’ve found exactly what I was looking for here — a very nice environment where I can have a smile on my face again when I wake up in the morning and I have to go to work, pack my bags and leave my house. So that’s exactly what I was looking for."
