Alpine has outlined its targets for the second half of the season as they look to improve their fortunes in Formula 1.

The team has achieved a sole podium at the Monaco Grand Prix with Esteban Ocon so far, but have suffered from a myriad of problems on and off track.

Ocon retired from the British GP after a reoccurring hydraulic problem for the team cropped up again, while both drivers suffered a misfortune at the start of the Hungarian GP and retired.

Prior to the summer break, Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi left the company after a fallout with Renault chief executive Luca De Mao.

This impacted the F1 team as they also let go of Otmar Szafnauer and replaced him with Bruno Famin in the Team Principal role, with long-time Sporting Director Alan Permane also leaving the team.

They currently sit sixth in the Constructors' Championship on 57 points and are 46 points off nearest rivals McLaren.

Alpine aiming for top four

Last season the team was fourth in the Contructors' standings, but with Ferrari now on 191 points it looks like a tough challenge to repeat the feat.

But Famin is optimistic when asked about their chances by media, including RacingNews365: "The season so far, the season do not match our expectation, clearly.

"We were fourth last year, we know that the top three is very strong, but we were aiming to keep that fourth place and maybe fight a little bit for the third.

"We are not where we wanted and we work hard with all the teams, with the Enstone guys, with the Viry-Châtillon guys in order to extract the best possible performance of our car."
