Alpine has issued a medical update on the condition of Franco Colapinto, following the Argentinian's heavy crash during the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint.
Colapinto crashed heavily on Lap 7 at the third corner, seconds after Oscar Piastri and Nico Hulkenberg also crashed at the same spot.
All three drivers took too much kerb on the inside of the turn which was holding significant water, following substantial overnight rain.
After hitting the wet kerb, Colapinto was a passenger as his Alpine went into the barrier, with a red flag having been required due to the recovery and barrier repair job required.
Of the three drivers who crashed, Colapinto's impact with the barrier was the biggest, resulting in his Alpine sustaining major damage.
Following the crash, Colapinto did visit the medical centre for precautionary checks; however, Alpine has confirmed that the driver is OK.
An Alpine statement read: "Franco was taken to the medical centre after the incident at Turn 3 for precautionary checks. He is ok and has been released by the doctors."
