Fernando Alonso will start the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in second to last after finishing P19 in Q1.
The 42-year-old has had a difficult day. After bringing out a red flag in FP3, which ended his session, he had an off in qualifying. When the rest of the field set their final times, he was in the pits. The Aston Martin driver did not set a representative lap time.
The team brought extensive upgrades to Imola, in what will be a massive disappointment, as well as a big qualifying shock.
Team-mate Lance Stroll got through in P13. Joining Alonso in the bottom five was Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant, who will line up last after his lap time was deleted.
