Alfa Romeo share fresh update on Zhou after heavy shunt

Alfa Romeo have sent out a positive update regarding Zhou Guanyu's condition in the wake of his horror crash at the start of the British Grand Prix.

Zhou Guanyu has been declared "fit" and released from the Silverstone Medical Centre following a nasty crash on the first lap of the British Grand Prix. As the lights went out, Pierre Gasly found himself sandwiched between Zhou and George Russell, who closed together, with Zhou's car flipping upside down. Zhou skated across the gravel before his car vaulted over the tyre barriers and into the catch fencing, eventually coming to a halt at an awkward angle. After receiving medical attention in his car, Alfa Romeo confirmed that Zhou was "okay" and had been taken to the Medical Centre for checks.

Zhou released from the Medical Centre

Following those examinations, Alfa Romeo confirmed further positive news regarding the Chinese driver's condition. "Alfa Romeo F1 Team driver, Zhou Guanyu, has been declared fit and released from the circuit's Medical Centre," read a brief statement from the team. Alex Albon was another driver to be taken to the Medical Centre after a separate Turn 1 incident involving Sebastian Vettel and Yuki Tsunoda. Williams later confirmed that he had been transferred to Coventry Walsgrave Hospital for an examination, with updates to follow.
