Carlos Sainz finished the day at the front of a fabled Ferrari one-two-three result, ahead of teammates Charles Leclerc and Robert Shwartzman.
The 2022 British GP winner topped the final session of the season with a 1:25.245 in the afternoon's running, ahead of teammate Leclerc, who used the same car in the morning.
Shwartzman completed a full day to fulfil the team's rookie driver requirements in the second Ferrari car, finishing less than two tenths of a second off the pace on his 116-lap day.
Pierre Gasly finished a productive day for Alpine in P4 with 116 laps on the board.
World Champion Max Verstappen took over from Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez in the afternoon, finishing P5 and six tenths off the pace, ahead of the Williams duo of Alex Albon and newcomer Logan Sargeant.
Nyck de Vries spent the entire day acclimatising to the AlphaTauri team and completing a mammoth 151 laps of the Yas Marina Circuit, over 2.5 times the Grand Prix distance.
Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and Red Bull junior Liam Lawson completed the top ten, ahead of Alpine rookie Jack Doohan.
Alonso completes first Aston Martin outing
New-for-2023 Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso ran in the first half of the day before handing the car over to Stroll. The Spanish driver took P12, took over one second off the pace, ahead of the second Red Bull of Perez.
Oscar Piastri finished the day in P14, not being affected by his earlier red flag. A second red flag of the day came in the early afternoon, but this was to clear some debris from the track.
Aston Martin junior and F2 Champion Felipe Drugovich was P15, ahead of Alfa Romeo's Valtteri Bottas and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton.
In the afternoon session, Lando Norris had an off-track moment before continuing and finishing the day in P18, with F1 returnee Nico Hulkenberg right behind, finishing P19 after his stoppage earlier in the day.
The 24-driver strong timesheet was completed by Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri), Pietro Fittipaldi (Haas), Frederik Vesti, George Russell (both Mercedes) and Theo Pourchaire (Alfa Romeo).
