Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were comfortably quickest at the end of the sole practice session for the Qatar Grand Prix ahead of sprint qualifying at the Lusail International Circuit.
Piastri posted a lap of 1:20.924s, finishing just 0.058s clear of McLaren team-mate Lando Norris, who goes into this weekend with a 24-point advantage over the Australian and Red Bull's Max Verstappen, and in with a shot of clinching the F1 drivers' title.
Verstappen, meanwhile, bemoaned his RB21 on numerous occasions throughout the hour-long run and finished sixth fastest, 0.580s adrift.
