Lando Norris topped the timesheets in the first practice session ahead of this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver posted a 1m 28.549 to be almost two-tenths clear of his nearest competitor – Mercedes' George Russell.
Charles Leclerc secured third but was over four-tenths slower than Norris, whilst Lewis Hamilton was a further tenth-of-a-second behind in fourth.
Max Verstappen was fifth but just one-tenth ahead of new team-mate Yuki Tsunoda in sixth. Oscar Piastri was 15th.
