Lando Norris sealed a crucial, sensational victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, beating McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri to the chequered flag.

It was an enthralling cat-and-mouse battle between the Woking squad's two drivers, which went down to the wire. Norris just held on, utilising an offset one-stop strategy versus Piastri's conventional two-stopper.

Pole-sitter Charles Leclerc saw his early pace evaporate, falling to fourth behind George Russell, who rounded out the podium places - the Mercedes driver prevailing in a tense late fight with the Ferrari.

It was hot-headed by the Monegasque driver, who was seen moving under braking in defence, something Martin Brundle called "bordering on wholly unreasonable" on commentary.

The eight-time grand prix winner was subsequently handed a five-second time penalty for driving erratically.

Fernando Alonso put together his best result of the season, taking fifth position, whilst Lance Stroll in the other Aston Martin clinched seventh.

Gabriel Bortoleto took a superb sixth between the Silverstone pair in his Stake, marking a career day for the young Brazilian.

Max Verstappen, who finished ninth on the road, was at risk of a penalty. The stewards investigated his lunge on Lewis Hamilton after the race, for potentially forcing another driver off track and gaining an advantage, but ultimately deemed no further action was necessary.
