It was a fascinating Emilia Romagna Grand Prix which saw Max Verstappen once again topple McLaren, courtesy of an overtake for the ages.

To no surprise, the four-time world champion is placed at the top of our list of driver ratings from Imola, with him firmly being in title contention once again.

McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured second and third, yet had no answer to Verstappen in terms of race pace – how has this impacted their ratings?

Check out the driver ratings below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

The top five

Max Verstappen - 9.5

With a second win of the season, Verstappen has truly thrown himself into contention for a fifth consecutive F1 drivers' title. The Dutchman qualified in second but pulled off an all-time great overtaken at the first corner on Piastri. He then cruised into the distance, in what was Red Bull's best display of the season.

Alex Albon - 9

Alex Albon is having some season, in fact, Williams in general are on an absolute roll. Back-to-back fifth place finishes is hugely impressive for Albon, in what is a car yet to be upgraded this season. For a brief moment, a podium looked on the cards, unfortunately, it was not to be.

Carlos Sainz - 8

Carlos Sainz is also continuing to gel with the Grove-based team, and put his Williams on the third row in Imola. Whilst he lost two places and finished in eighth, it was another strong performance by the Spaniard who is now scoring consistent points.

Oscar Piastri - 7.5

Piastri is an interesting one, given he topped both practice sessions on Friday and claimed pole position. Whilst the timing of the virtual safety car and safety car hurt him, the real problem was his approach to the first corner. He left the door completely open to Verstappen, in what was a race he should have been victorious in.

Lando Norris - 7.5

For Norris, it was another qualifying session to forget after only securing fourth on the grid. However, he seemed to find his mojo in the race, pulling off a very impressive overtake on George Russell. He had a hunger back which saw him finish second and cut Piastri's lead to 13 points, just increasing the pressure on his team-mate ahead of Monaco.

The bottom five

Liam Lawson - 4

It was another disappointing grand prix for Liam Lawson, who was once again comfortably slower than team-mate Isack Hadjar. A Q1 elimination followed by 14th in the race painted a sorry picture, as Hadjar scored points and made Q3. Progress is quickly needed by the New Zealander.

Yuki Tsunoda - 4

Yuki Tsunoda's weekend was very much hit-and-miss, following a terrifying crash in Q1 which saw him barrel roll along the barrier. He destroyed his RB21, leading to a long night for Red Bull. Remarkably, his car was repaired; albeit, he started from the pit lane. His Sunday performance was actually very impressive, as he recovered to finish in 10th.

Kimi Antonelli - 3.5

Unfortunately, Kimi Antonelli suffered the worst grand prix of his short F1 career so far, in what was very much his home race. The Bologna-born driver struggled for confidence in the W16, despite having been so quick in Miami. He was eliminated in Q2, before retiring from the race with a technical problem.

Esteban Ocon - 3.5

Haas in general had a miserable few days in Imola, with both Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman having been eliminated in Q1. The team just struggled for outright pace, whilst Ocon's weekend became even worse after being forced to retire, also with a technical problem.

Franco Colapinto - 3

However, the worst weekend was undoubtedly endured by Franco Colapinto, on his return to F1 and his debut for Alpine. Flavio Briatore gave Colapinto a simple instruction, do not crash. Sadly, that is exactly what he did in Q1. A big crash at Turn 4 caused significant damage, whilst he showed a real lack of pace in the race.
