Dino Beganovic secured pole position for the F2 feature race at Imola, setting a lap time of 1:27.418, three milliseconds quicker than Sebastian Montoya in second.
ART Grand Prix driver Victor Martins was third-fastest whilst Leonardo Fornaroli and Alex Dunne completed the top five in the grid-setting session.
Arvid Lindblad, Luke Browning, Oliver Goethe, Kush Maini and Jack Crawford rounded out the top 10 for the fourth round of the F2 season, with the lattermost pair locking out the front row for the sprint in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix support event - in theory.
Maini brought out a red flag after crashing his DAMS Lucas Oil machine with six minutes of the half-an-hour session left to run, and is at risk of losing his best timed lap, as per the sporting regulations.
Due to the proximity of the session to F1 second free practice, it was decided it would not be resumed.
