McLaren appears to be the team to beat going into qualifying for the Mexico City GP.
Oscar Piastri had the edge over team-mate Lando Norris by just 0.059s, with the rest of the field off the pace in comparison around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Their nearest rival was Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, who was 0.340s adrift of the pacesetting Australian. Three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen, following a planned power unit change after difficulties on Friday, was half a second back in his Red Bull.
