Charles Leclerc emerged fastest from a red-flagged Free Practice 1 ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
Leclerc pumped in a 1:16.990 on the softest C5 tyres to pip Mercedes' George Russell and team-mate Carlos Sainz by just over a tenth.
It was a scrappy session for both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, with the two enduring spins and offs as they tried to fettle the Red Bull and Mercedes machines.
The session was briefly red-flagged at the 20-minute mark as Williams' Alex Albon ground to a halt at Acque Minerali, after hitting a kerb.
