Rodin Motorsport driver Callum Voisin took pole position for the F3 feature race at Spa-Francorchamps, beating out Alex Dunne of MP Motorsport and Tridents's Leonardo Fornaroli.
It was a ridiculous end to the session, with almost the entire field bunching up towards the end of the lap, trying to get optimal space.
Many drivers missed the opportunity to go faster amid the farcical scenes - and none of those who did cross the line in time could improve.
Sebastian Montoya and Noel Leon will line up fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Belgian Grand Prix support race.
Max Esterson, Luke Browning, Sami Meguetounif, Tim Tramnitz and Santiago Ramos rounded up the top 10.
After qualifying in P12 and P11, Dino Beganovic and Gabriele Mini will start Saturday's sprint from the front row, with the top 12 reserved for the shorter race.
