Yuki Tsunoda has suffered another Red Bull setback after failing to progress out of the opening qualifying segment at the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Japanese driver ended the session in 20th place as he continues to struggle to get up to speed at the Milton Keynes-based squad.
The F1 field was tightly congested at the end of Q1 on the timing board, with Tsunoda's deficit to team-mate Max Verstappen was just under six-tenths of a second.
Sunday’s race in Barcelona is set to be the third consecutive F1 race Tsunoda has started outside the top 10.
Following his initial lap, Tsunoda was left 19th in the order and informed his team to check his floor as he feared damage to the component.
His comment came after he ran wide at the final corner to start his first timed effort.
Upon his return to the track in the final minutes, Tsunoda was unable to escape the bottom-five drop zone and was pipped by the rest of the competition.
Tsunoda is now due to start the race from the back of the grid, bar penalties for other drivers.
