Yuki Tsunoda issued an apology to Red Bull after yet another painful drive in the Austrian Grand Prix, where he had to settle for a disappointing 16th.

The Japanese driver qualified in 18th and offered little at the Red Bull Ring, with race pace having been an issue once again.

On the team's home soil, Tsunoda collected two penalty points and a 10-second time penalty for hitting Franco Colapinto at Turn 4, ending any remote chance of a point.

It marked a disastrous day for the Austrian outfit with Max Verstappen having been taken out at the third corner by Kimi Antonelli.

Tsunoda was unable to take charge for the team and spent the entirety of the race in the midfield, adding to his growing frustration.

Despite qualifying towards the back, the 25-year-old is getting closer to Verstappen in qualifying; however, when it comes to a Sunday, he remains at a complete loss for why his pace is poor.

"The collision with Franco was my bad, obviously, the situation I was in, I think it was quite a poor move," Tsunoda told select media, including RacingNews365

"Massive apologies to the team [for] how I ended up, and also at the same time, the pace itself was pretty poor as well.

"Not sure what I'm doing completely wrong, to be honest. But the pace data between the level I have to be at is massive. So at the same time, obviously, I'm working hard to find the reasons of what's the issue causing this.

"But even we see going through the data it's hard to find, even for the engineers it's really hard to find in terms of driving style difference with Max.

"Maybe I have to [look] from a different kind of view. But for now, it's hard to find the reasons, but we have to find it anyway."
