Wolff refuses to budge on 2022 Mercedes driver line-up

The Mercedes team principal has hinted at when a decision will be made as to whether Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will remain with the team for next year.

Toto Wolff has given a small indication as to when a final decision on Mercedes' 2022 driver pairing will be made. The Austrian refused to give a clear answer but said how the next few events unfold will be important. Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas are out of contract at the end of the year and Wolff wants to avoid a late contract signing which happened this year with Hamilton. "I hope one day I wake up and it becomes clear," Wolff told RacingNews365.com and other select members of the press. "I think we need to look into the season and how the next races unfold. Then it is a judgment call I believe. It's not a very scientific response but I haven't got anything at the moment." Wolff also stated contract negotiations with Hamilton are yet to begin.
