Wolff prepared to 'stay quiet' as Mercedes plots F1 revival

Toto Wolff insists he would "rather not talk too much" about how Mercedes will perform in 2025 as it plots a way back to F1 title-winning ways.

The team has largely struggled in the ground-effect era, winning only one race in the 2022 season, going winless in 2023, before scoring four victories last year.

However, the W15 machine that captured those four wins proved a tricky car for the team to understand, with fluctuations in ride height and track temperature producing wild performance swings.

Mercedes performed better in cooler, green track conditions, such as the Las Vegas GP where George Russell stormed to the win from pole position and former driver Lewis Hamilton finished second.

Heading into the new season, Wolff is keen to keep his counsel over how the team will perform.

"These cars are so complicated to hit the sweet spot, that we've only done it on a few occasions," Wolff told media, including RacingNews365.

"We were ultra-dominant in Las Vegas, and then at other tracks, we were unable to contest for a podium.

"So I'd rather not talk too much and see how we can perform in the tests, and see whether we have solved some of those balance issues, get on top of the tyres and then we shall see.

"George is ready to fight for the championship, we've got to provide him and Kimi [Antonelli] with a car that is fast enough."
