Williams have confirmed that Alexander Albon has been released from hospital following his Lap 1 crash at the British Grand Prix. The former Red Bull racer has been given the all-clear, say the team, after being one of multiple cars involved in the early-race chaos After being taken to Silverstone's medical centre, Albon was airlifted to Coventry's Walsgrave Hospital for further checks.
Albon thankful drivers escaped without serious injury
Speaking following his release from the hospital, Albon said: "I'm very glad that everyone else involved in the first lap incident is okay. Thank you to all the medical staff at the track and at Coventry hospital. "It's a shame our race ended before it began today but we are already fully focussed on Austria. Bring on the next one." Zhou Guanyu was also hurt following his own first-lap crash and was taken away from the scene in an ambulance. He has also since been given the all-clear.
