F1 has now confirmed it is starting the process for General Motors to field the 11th team on the grid, from 2026 onwards.

This means, if successful, an expansion of the paddock. Therefore, two additional seats would need to be filled - something that has long-been called for amid talented drivers being unable to find an opportunity in F1.

The General Motors' entry, called Cadillac Formula 1 Team, is the development of Andretti's failed bid, but with much of the infrastructure and key staff remaining in place, ensuring strong links to drivers representing the famous name in other motorsport series.

There are plenty of driver options available to General Motors, too many to list, from inside the F1 paddock, not to mention all those further-afield options.

Of the nine options presented in the latest poll by RacingNews365, only Sergio Perez has a contract for a full-time drive in F1 for 2025, but he is included in the list given the uncertainty of his situation at Red Bull.

Joining him from the F1 ranks are: Valtteri Bottas; Mick Schumacher; Kevin Magnussen; Franco Colapinto; and Zhou Guanyu.

Alongside that cohort is IndyCar stars Colton Herta - who races for Andretti - and Alex Palou, as well as Jake Dennis, who won the Formula E world championship for Andretti in 2023.

Who do you think General Motors should sign as its first F1 driver? Let us know by voting below in the latest poll by RacingNews365 or by leaving a comment.
