Sergio Perez opening up about what life was like alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull has raised a key question once again: who has performed best as the Dutchman's team-mate?

The current Cadillac driver revealed all during an appearance on the High Performance podcast, where he explained how Verstappen was given everything, with the team built around him.

Seven drivers have now occupied the second Red Bull seat alongside Verstappen, with it often proving to be a revolving door.

Daniel Ricciardo remains the only team-mate to have outscored Verstappen over a full season, doing so in both 2016 and 2017. He won four races alongside the Dutchman and left Red Bull at the end of 2018 with his reputation very much intact.

Pierre Gasly lasted just 12 races in 2019, losing to Verstappen 11-1 in both qualifying and race head-to-heads before being demoted back to Toro Rosso.

Alexander Albon steadied the ship somewhat, performing more competitively on Sundays, but was ultimately replaced after 2020 without ever truly threatening Verstappen's dominance.

Perez enjoyed the longest stint, spending four seasons as Verstappen's wingman from 2021 to 2024. He peaked with a runner-up finish in the championship in 2023, but a drastic collapse to eighth in 2024 brought the partnership to an end.

Liam Lawson's spell barely registered, lasting just two pointless races at the start of 2025 before Yuki Tsunoda replaced him. Tsunoda managed only 30 points across 22 races.

Now it is Isack Hadjar's turn. The Frenchman sits eighth in the 2026 standings with 52 points after nine rounds, 24 behind Verstappen. He has yet to score a podium but has shown encouraging consistency, finishing in the top six on multiple occasions.

Who do you believe has performed the best alongside Verstappen?
