Which team has suffered the biggest 2026 downfall?

The 2026 regulations were supposed to reset the competitive order, but for Aston Martin and Williams, the new era has brought nothing but misery, two teams trending sharply in the wrong direction after genuine progress in recent seasons.

Aston Martin's plight has been the more dramatic. A team that finished fifth in the constructors' championship in both 2023 and 2024, with 280 and 94 points respectively, now sits 10th with a solitary point to their name. 

Adrian Newey, the man brought in to transform the Silverstone outfit, has been remarkably candid about the scale of the problem.

"These first races have been a complete nightmare," Newey admitted, later adding that the team "probably put too much expectation on ourselves" heading into the season. 

Fernando Alonso's 10th place in Monaco remains their only points finish from 11 races, while Lance Stroll is yet to trouble the scorers. 

Reliability has been crippling, with 10 retirements across the two cars, and vibration issues so severe that Alonso reportedly complained of numbness in his hands and feet.

Williams, meanwhile, arrived in 2026 off the back of a remarkable 2025 campaign that delivered fifth in the constructors' standings, 137 points and two podiums for Carlos Sainz. The FW48, however, has failed to build on that momentum. 

James Vowles' team sits ninth with just 11 points, their best result an eighth place for Alex Albon in Monaco. Sainz has managed three ninth-place finishes, but consistency has been sorely lacking.
