F1's new Madrid Grand Prix remains provisional on the newly-revealed 2026 calendar, pending FIA circuit homologation. Currently pencilled in for the weekend of September 11th-13th, the street track in the Spanish capital is to join the calendar at the expense of Imola, whose contract expired after the recent 2025 race. The race is set to be the finale to the European leg of the season before the flyaways to end the year, with two races set to take place in Spain in 2026. Barcelona remains on the calendar due to having a contract for 2026, with that set to take place on June 12th-14th. In order for the race in Madrid to actually go ahead, the circuit must receive sign-off from the FIA for its Grade 1 licence as part of the final homologation. This is normally a formality for new grands prix, but in the unlikely event Madrid fails, F1 would need to find a new venue if it wished to keep the calendar at 24 races.
