The United States Grand Prix stewards have rejected McLaren's right of review over Lando Norris' time penalty at the Circuit of the Americas and the case will not be re-opened.

In accordance with FIA guidelines, the stewards determined that McLaren had failed to meet the four outlined criteria needed to pass the "high bar" of an accepted right of review.

Ultimately, the stewards decided that the new element - or evidence - submitted by the team was "unsustainable" because it was derived from part of the original verdict that handed Norris the penalty in his fight with Max Verstappen.

But given the stewards acknowledged how difficult the process is, and that it was not necessarily designed for such matters, should the right of review have passed to the next stage?

McLaren outlined its disagreement with the latest decision and has endeavoured to continue working with the FIA to improve the process moving forward to avoid what the team feels was an incorrectly-given penalty.

Nevertheless, were the stewards wrong to reject McLaren's right of review petition?
