Nyck de Vries has stressed that this afternoon's Formula E Monaco E-Prix could be unable to take place, should wet weather continue at the Circuit de Monaco.
Qualifying for the seventh round of the 2025 season descended into chaos, following a heavy rain shower 20 minutes prior to the session.
It resulted in substantial water on the track surface, catching out McLaren's Sam Bird who had a big crash at Sainte Devote.
The accident resulted in a red flag during the second qualifying group, with the Briton having been a passenger after a bout of aquaplane.
Rain for qualifying was not expected by many; however, it has featured on the forecast for the race itself for several days.
Speaking after securing second on the grid, de Vries insisted that if the conditions are the same in the race, starting it could be a real problem.
"In these conditions we can't even race," de Vries told Formula E's official broadcast, when asked how the race could fare in wet weather.
Concerns have been raised all season about the performance of the current Hankook tyre in wet weather, with grip being a major issue.
