Video: How does Mercedes' F1 simulator work?

With every team relying more and more on state-of-the-art simulators as computing power increases, Mercedes have explained how their own simulator works and the benefits the team get from using simulation tools.

Mercedes have released a fascinating video detailing the work that goes into ensuring their simulation tools are as accurate as possible, as well as revealing the types of benefits the teams get from using state-of-the-art facilities like the sim they have at their factory in Brackley.

Every team in Formula 1 has invested in a simulator, with Ferrari currently in the process of bringing their brand-new facility at Maranello online.

While you can regularly hear drivers talk about "working in the sim", there's rarely any information released on what that exactly entails.

Mercedes have attempted to shed some light on the subject with a video showing their simulator in use by a driver thrashing around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
